Step 1 Revision

1. Check the homework exercises.

2. Ask a few quick questions about the topics in Units 13-17.

Step 2 Presentation

Ask the students tell some jokes in Chinese. Introduce the topic of joles and play on words. Give two examples on the Bb:

Seven days without water make one week..(weak)

We must all hang together, or we shall all hang separately.

Step 3 reading

There are three jokes. Underneath the jokes are three explanations. You must find the correct explanation for each joke. Allow the students to read the jokes.

Step dialogue

Play tape for the students to listen and follow. Go through the text briefly and make sure the students understand it. Practise the dialogues in pairs. Tell the students to lok at the second group of jokes. Put the students in pairs and give them a few moments to see if they can find the jokes. Ask for explanations.

Step 5 Workbook

Ask the students to read the dialogues in Ex1 and translate them into Chinese. They may tell the humour in the jokes in Chinese.

Read through the passage in Ex.2 silently and quickly. Then give the students a few moments to discuss the answers with the students.

Step 6 Consolidation

See if the students can tell the jokes in this lesson without their books.

Finish off the Workbook exercises.

Lesson 70

Step 1 Revision

1. Check the homework exercises.

1. Ask the students tell the jokes in the textbook.

Step 2 Presentation

1.Get the students to talk about the picture and describe what they can see.

1. Ask the students to read the passage and answer the questions in Part 2. Collect the answers and check them with the whole class.

1) be to do

* 用于第二人称时, 含有转达别人指示的意思.

*用于第三人称时, 表示命令或指示.

* 也可表示将来某一时刻或某一时间段正在发生或进行的动作。

5. The hotel paid the taxi driver and put the charge on their hotel bill.

* charge n. 收费

* put the charge on the bill 把(某笔收费)记在帐单上= charge the money to one”s account.

Step 6 Vocabulary

Part 3. Read the instruction aloud and check that the students know what to do. Get the students to do this exercise individually, then check their answers in pairs. Go over the answers with the whole class.

Step 7 Workbook

Do the first sentence of Ex.2 with the class and tell them how to do the exercise. Then pairwork. Finally check the answers with the class and translate the sentences into Chinese.

Step 8 Consolidation

Ask the students to tell the story again in pairs. Then get pairs to tell a part of the story to the whole class.

Homework

Read the passage again, trying to recite or retell the story. Finish off the Workbook exercise.

Lesson 71

Step 1 Revision

1. Check the homework exercises.

1. Ask the students to tell each other the story in pairs. Call out one or two students to tell the story again.

Step 2 presentation

Today we are going to read a story about an interview for a job. If you want a job in a company, you usually have to go to the company for an interview. The boss of the company asks you questions about your education and your experience. You also have the chance to ask questions about the kind of work which you will do in the company if you get the job. So you will look at the picture and see: What do you think happened in the story? Of course you may think: If you tell someone what you thing of them, are you telling them good or bad things? Now read the passage quickly to find out all these things. Did the man in the story find the job?

Step 3 Reading

I. Part 2. Let the students read the passage and answer the following questions in pairs. Check the answers with the class:

1.Because he made him fall off the bike.

II. Go through the text with the students. Ask them some questions.

1. Tel him what you think of him! 把你的意见告诉他! 告诉他, 对他有意见!

此句有消极的含义,实际上你对他有意见. 如果是积极的则应说: Tell him what you admire about him.
