Task one: Revision(seeing a doctor)

(1) 问病:

What’s wrong(the matter) with you?

What’s your trouble?

How are you feeling today?

(2)说病

I have (catch)…

a (bad) cold(temperature) / the flu / a headache / a cough / a fever/ sore eyes / a sore throat / a toothache / a backache / a stomachache 等。

(3)看病

see a doctor

take the temperature

get an injection

take the medicine (pills) three times a day

(4)医生建议:

drink more (boiled)water (fever)

stay in bed and have a good rest

You shouldn’t drink cold water./ eat hot food.

You’d better not work today.

Task two: Listen to the tape. Pay attention to the new words.

(1)sound terrible

“系动词+adj.” 构成系表结构,这类动词还有 look , seem , taste , feel , smell , turn , get , become等。

译:1.他看起来很疲惫。 He looks very tired.

(2) be + adj. + 介词 + doing

常用有:be pleased with / be worried about / be afraid of / be bored with / be angry with(at) / be nervous about / be satisfied with / be strict with(about) 等。

1.李老师很担心他的学生。 Mr. Li is worried about his students.

2. 他很高兴通过了考试。 He is pleased with passing the exam.

(3)make + sb. / sth. + 宾补(可以是形容词、名词、省略to的不定式)

1.李老师让我当班长。 Mr. Li made me monitor.

2. 康康使那个婴儿哭了。 Kang Kang makes the baby cry.

(4)How long have you felt like this?

= How long have you been like this? (For) Three days.

(5)with 伴随性动作,表示名词的特征。

我有一个三只脚的杯子。 I have a cup with three legs.

(6)Don’t be afraid! Be brave!

Task four: Listen to the tape again, then ask the Ss to act out the text.(pair work)

Task five: Work alone

(1) Underline the expressions of reassurance. Suppose you are Michael’s friend. How will you reassure him?

Calm down / You don’t have a SARS. I think you just have a bad cold with a fever. / Don’t be afraid! Be brave! / Follow the doctor’s advice and you’ll get well soon. / Nothing serious.

(2) How do you feel when you are ill? Write down your feeling.
