Ⅰ. Showing aims:

Ⅱ. Revision

1.Check homework.

Revise The Object Clause. Ask the Ss some questions like: What does the teacher say? And what did the teacher say? Have the Ss practise “ ask and answer” in pairs, using The Object Clause, and choose several pairs to perform their dialogues.

Play the chain games:

( show the SS a film of the sentences)

T: I often go to school on foot.

S1: What does the teacher say?

S2: She says that she often goes to school on foot.

S1: What did the teacher say?

S2: She said that she often went to school on foot.

Make sure the Ss can ask and answer correctly. Then play the chain game in pairs.

Ⅲ.Presentation

Tell the Ss that they’ll have a two-week holiday. Get the SS to discuss how will they spend the holidays. Divide the class into small groups, then ask one student of each group to give their report.

Present this dialogue:

T: Where are you going for your holiday?

S: We decide to go to Shanghai.

T: That’s a good idea. But could you tell me how long you’re going to be there?

S: About two weeks.

T: Great. And do you know where you’ll stay?

S: I don’t know. Can you tell me?

T: I don’t know. Either. Let’s try to find the information about Shanghai, OK?

S: OK.

Have the SS practise the dialogue in pairs.

Ⅳ. Read and act:

Speech cassette. L17, Ask:

What are they going to talk about?

Where are they going for their holidays?

How long are they going to be there?

Do they know Hainan well ?

How will they know about it before they go to Hainan?

Play the tape twice for the ss to listen and show them the picture to look. Then the Ss can repeat the dialogue after the tape.

Part 1. Books open. Ask the Ss to read the dialogue in pairs, and ask four pairs to act out it in front of the class.

Explain: 1)try doing and try to do something; try one’s best to do something;

Show a map of China on the slide. Get the Ss to find out “ Hainan Island”, and divide the class into small groups to discuss about Hainan Island. Ask: Do you have any knowledge about Hainan Island? How do you know about it? Have the Ss share with the class.

Ⅳ. Read.

Part 2. Speech cassette. Books closed. Play the tape for the Ss to listen and find the answers to the questions, check the answers of Ex1. with the whole class. Help the Ss understand the passage easily. Then play the tape again for the Ss to repeat.

Discuss the questions in pairs. Then ask and answer.

Ⅴ.Read and complete:

Have the Ss work in pairs to complete the dialogue. Then ask some of the SS to read the dialogue, and check the answers with the whole class.

Ⅳ. Read and act:

Part 1. Speech cassette. Go through the dialogue with the Ss. Then get the Ss to ask and answer in pairs.

Note: one-way: that is a flight only from one place to another.

Round-trip: that is a flight only from one place to another, then return.

Ⅴ.Practice :

Practise the dialogue of Part 1 in pairs. Give the SS a few minutes to prepare to act it out. Get two students to act it out in front of the class.

Ⅵ. Ask and answer:

Read through the instructions with the whole class. Have the SS ask and answer in pairs. Then get the Ss to write a short passage about the Smiths’ trip.

Have the Ss give the answers to the questions in the book. Then ask and answer in pairs.

Ⅶ. Practice :

Make a surrounding of the airport. One student acts as Mr.Smith. The other acts as a woman. Mr Smith ask the woman for help, make up their own dialogues in pairs, and get some pairs to perform their dialogues to share with the class.

Ask one of the Ss to act as a traveler, the teacher acts as an officer at the travel agency. Present a dialogue like this:
